Allergies and Hidden Allergies
When we hear the word allergies most people think of sneezing, itchy eyes, and a stuffy nose as a reaction to something
common like dust or pollen. Allergies are so much more than that, and what we don't know could be the cause of more
problems than we think. Some of these problems may include heart disease, weight gain, digestive problems, acne, poor
memory, learning disabilities, Arthritis, and fatigue, just to name a few. Because allergies are so common, many people have
learned to live with their symptoms and minimize the effects. Ignoring the body's reactions and symptoms can be very
dangerous. Food allergies are a type of allergy that is often hidden because we are not aware we are allergic to certain foods.
The body can take hours or even days to create a reaction to an allergy. A common misconception is that food allergies only
cause severe symptoms like swelling of the tongue and face or inability to breathe. While food allergies do cause these
symptoms occasionally, they can also cause more subtle effects such as chronic inflammation which ultimately causes weight
gain, Arthritis, heart disease, Diabetes, indigestion, excess gas, etc.
Dealing With Allergies and Asthma
Spring is in the air which means allergy season is also in full swing. The time of year when sneezing and itchy watery eyes
becomes something of a daily routine for many people. There are several different types of allergies. Indoor allergies can come
from dust, molds, pet dander, etc. Outdoor allergies such as pollens, rag weeds, grasses, etc can also cause problems. Along
with these common indoor and outdoor allergens many people suffer from food allergies. Some of the most common food
allergies are wheat, milk, eggs, corn, and soy. One of the biggest problems with food allergies is that we may not even realize
we are allergic to any foods. While some people suffer immediate reactions to the foods they are allergic to such as hives,
swelling of the face, or closing of the throat, the most common side effects of a food allergy are hidden. These symptoms can
take hours or even days to surface. We may suffer from other symptoms such as headaches, digestion problems, stuffy nose,
joint pain, etc that take hours or even days to surface. Despite the nagging symptoms allergy sufferers learn to deal with such
as sneezing, watery eyes, stuffy nose, allergies can cause many more serious problems. If not taken care of, allergies can
cause weight gain, heart disease, poor memory, fatigue, learning disabilities, and arthritis just to name a few. Asthma is also
another serious problem that affects about 20 million Americans. Asthma is a condition where the lungs become blocked or
narrowed which causes breathing difficulties. While asthma can be triggered by allergens such as dust, pollens or pet dander it
